SOCIAL SNIPPET: We were at the launch of Shark Tank SA

Durban – Channel24 attended the launch of Shark Tank SA at uShaka Marine World on Wednesday evening.

What it’s about:

Shark Tank SA is M-Net’s newest reality show. Aspiring entrepreneur/contestants pitch their business ideas to a panel of "shark" investors, who then choose whether or not to invest. These Sharks invest their own money.

The Sharks are: Gil Oved, Dawn-Nathan Jones, Romeo Khumalo, Marnus Broodryk and Vinny Lingham.

The show will premiere on Sunday, 2 October on M-Net (DStv 101) at 18:00 and will also be available for Compact Viewers.

Overheard

*Over 1 000 aspiring entrepreneurs applied to be on the show.

*When it came to choosing contestants the producers looked for businesses that were investment ready and for characters that the viewers could engage and identify with.

*The Sharks were looking to invest in people who are passionate about their business, people who understood their numbers and people who came up with ideas that could be commercially viable.

* There are two very emotional segments that cause a shark or two to shed a tear.

*Gil Oved used to be a presenter on Zap Mag, he tied the knot 8 days ago and the one of the most expensive purchases he has made was his Dolce & Gabana wedding suit.

*Dawn-Nathan Jones is a self-proclaimed shopaholic.

* Romeo Khumalo wanted to be a jazz musician when he grew up.

*To relax Marnus Broodryk meditates, reads and does yoga.
