Cape Town - The end is near for the handful of contestants who’ll be competing for the top prize in Survivor SA: Island of Secrets on 12 September.

The penultimate episode was packed with action and drama. Fitness model Steffi Brink (27) from Midrand, Gauteng got voted off.

“It’s so close, yet so far. I played very hard and I didn’t make it to the final,” Steffi tells YOU.

Now, it’s a race between Durao Mariano, Laetitia le Roux, Nicole Capper and Rob Bentele to see who walks away with the R1 million prize money.

“I’m not sure, because everybody has their own personal reasons for voting for people. When you sit on the jury, people have hidden agendas. Some people probably don’t want people to win because they were out-witted. It’s sour grapes,” Steffi says.

She doesn’t want to say who she thinks is going to win.

“I do feel betrayed because Nicole was in on the plan until the end. I guess she flipped because she felt so intimidated by me, my character and my persona. But that’s not on me. She’d probably also felt a bit threatened if she would’ve sat at the end with me and Laetitia,” Steffi laughs.

But, says Steffi, who’s married to actor Clint Brink, she has no regrets about the way she played the game.

“I believe I played the game exactly the way I was supposed to. If I chose to stick with the Amigos, it would’ve been an intense final. We worked together. How do you prove who was the kingpin, who made the decisions?” she says on a serious note.

Nicole and Rob are the only two remaining members of the so-called Amigos alliance.

If she won, she would’ve donated 10% to charity and used the rest to ensure a stable financial future.

“But there’s no point thinking about that now because I’m not seeing that money,” she says.

“I wanted to prove a point, and I wanted an all-women alliance, an all-women final, in order to promote all-women empowerment. Because we don’t have to go to other people, especially men. We can be pioneers of lots of things in society.”
