Cape Town – On Monday, a mysterious new man made his appearance in 7de Laan. Who is Mr Basson, and why did Willem bolt when he met him?
DeWet Basson played by Dirk Stoltz, is a self-assured businessman who assumes ownership of the Welman house and has everyone in Hillside guessing his next move.
According to the popular soapie, the new character will entertain viewers with his sordid past and manipulative ways, and viewers will soon learn to what lengths a man will go, to protect his legacy and mask his past.
50-year-old Dirk is a familiar face on television screens. He has appeared in several TV shows including Binnelanders, Isidingo, Generations and Erfsondes.
Dirk also worked with Hollywood royalty, which includes actors such as Hilary Swank and Denzel Washington, and director, Tom Harper.
"Getting to man-handle Denzel Washington in the movie Safe House, is definitely one of the highlights of my career," he says.
