Show: Jack Whitehall: At Large
Rating: 3/5 stars
Available on: Netflix
What we thought:
I first discovered Jack Whitehall when I stumbled upon his other Netflix show, Jack Whitehall: Travels with my Father.
Admittedly I’m no stand-up comic connoisseur, but I do love a good laugh. So I was pleased to see that Whitehall’s latest gig was available on Netflix.
Jack Whitehall: At Large was filmed at the Hammersmith Apollo in London and is described as his “biggest-ever UK arena tour”.
For the most part Jack makes fun of himself, from sleeping with his eyes open (it’s a real medical condition) to having a non-talking role in the Disney animation, Frozen (also totally true, I Googled it). He even spills the beans on why Robert Pattinson is his archenemy and how a Google Maps camera caught him smoking a dubie.
Just when you think the embarrassing stories are just too ridiculous to be true, he shows the receipts. Proudly. On a big screen behind him.
From a very over-the-top entrance to his rather campy British style of humour – Jack is an absolute delight to watch. The colourful finale, an ode to his character in Frozen, is so bizarre you can't help but burst out laughing.
The show is the perfect way to relax on the couch after a crappy week.
