The SABC is looking for weather presenters

Cape Town – The SABC is hiring and looking for freelance weather presenters for its TV news bulletins.

The public broadcaster is looking for weather presenters who can speak Xitsonga, IsiZulu, IsiXhosa, IsiNdebele, Setswana, Sepedi, Sesotho, Tshivenda, Siswati, English and Afrikaans to present weather forecasts live as part of its various TV news bulletins.

Presenters will interpret weather maps and give weather forecasts to viewers, alert and warn viewers about severe weather conditions, present weather reports live, and do live interviews about the weather with fellow presenters.

People who want to apply must have an undergraduate qualification in journalism, media studies or a related field and a degree in meteorology or geography will be an added advantage. Of course, people who apply must have a good command of the language, and good TV presenting skills, as well as a good general knowledge of weather conditions and patterns.
