Don't expect a sixth season of Black Mirror anytime soon.

Creator Charlie Brooker feels that right now the world isn't ready for more stories about societies falling apart.

The anthology series taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia.

In an interview with Radio Times, the 49-year-old shared that he has been busy doing things.

"I don't know what I can say about what I'm doing and not doing. At the moment, I don't know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I'm not working away on any of those. I'm sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I've been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh," said Charlie.

The three-episode fifth season premiered on Netflix in June 2019 and stars Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin.

Miley filmed scenes for her episode in South Africa.
