These are the newest shows you can stream in South Africa right now

Cape Town - Make the most of your Showmax, DStv Now, Netflix and/or Amazon Prime subscriptions this weekend by consuming these delicious new shows in one sitting.

1. No Activity S1-2 (Showmax)

Will Ferrell executive produces and stars in this hilarious cop series. Detectives Cullen and Tolbeck spend a lot of time on a very uneventful stake out. The lack of action allows for some of the funniest conversations on TV.

2. Future Man S2 (Showmax)

Leave it to a gaming janitor to save the world and, well, he fails. Josh is back at it, this time in the year 2162. He and his misfit team try to save humanity from being exiled to Mars - if they can survive all the time travel. Season 1 is also on Showmax, so you can watch from the very beginning of this bizarre and addictive sci-fi comedy.

3. Rig 45 S1 (Showmax)

An oil company damage regulator is sent to investigate a fatality at an oil rig when it’s hit by a hurricane that cuts all communication to the mainland. She soon begins to suspect the death was not an accident.

4. Mrs Wilson S1 (DStv Now)

Don’t miss this brand-new BBC series starring Ruth Wilson playing her own grandmother in a gripping whodunnit. After the sudden death of novelist and ex-Secret Intelligence Service man Alexander Wilson, his wife Alison is forced to investigate when mysteries from her husband’s past come knocking.

5. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend S4 (DStv Now)

In the fourth and final season, Rebecca confronts the consequences of her guilty plea while an angry Nathaniel seeks solace in a retreat and Josh is left searching for answers. We’re going to be sad to see this quirky musical comedy about love and loss go.

6. After Life S1 (Netflix)

In Ricky Gervais’s most recent outing, he plays Tony, a reporter on a community newspaper who is also a widower, and who rails against the godless universe by developing a gruff demeanour and opting out of all kinds of social contracts - such as abstaining from threatening children, for instance. It’s blasphemous and foul-mouthed and cringe-worthy, as so much of Gervais’s comedy is, but it’s also earnest and endearing and clever, and well worth the three hours of your time it’ll take to binge-watch the entire series.

7. The OA Part II (Netflix)

The second season of this mind-bending series about inter-dimensional travel, supernatural dance moves, life and death returns. Will we finally get answers to the mysteries of Season 1? Find out as OA navigates a new world.

8. Santa Clarita Diet S3 (Netflix)

Real-estate agents Joel and Sheila, with their white-picket-fence suburban lives and two children, are completely normal. Until Sheila develops a killer personality and an “everything goes” menu. In Season 3 of this hysterical, gory, off-the-wall comedy-fantasy, Sheila gets some answers about her, um, condition, and daughter Abby discovers that parents are not to be trusted. Especially hers.

9. Hanna S1 (Amazon Prime)

Hanna is a force to be reckoned with. Raised in the forest, she knows exactly how to outwit the off-book CIA agent who’s doggedly pursuing her. While Hanna stays one step ahead of her, she’s also trying to uncover the truth about who she is.
