Thuso Mbedu shines on International Emmy Awards red carpet

Cape Town – The 46th International Emmy awards took place in New York City on Monday.

The prestigious event which was hosted by comedian Hari Kondabolu saw the UK, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Portugal walk away with the top prizes.

Netflix’s Money Heist bagged the best drama award and Denmark’s Lars Mikkelsen won best actor.

South African actress Thuso Mbedu was nominated again this year in the best actress category for her role in Mzansi Magic's Is'thunzi. The award however went to Germany's Anna Schudt.

Thuso stunned on the red carpet in a dress designed by Project Runway SA winner, Kentse Masilo.

The actress thanked the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for the recognition and the nod on Instagram.

She wrote; "I’ve never been happier. African artist: the world is your oyster. Keep pushing, keep fighting for your passion. I dare you to be the first POC to fetch that award. Thank you to @iemmys for the nod and recognition. It was a beautiful way to end the year."
