TV special documenting youngest face transplant recipient coming to National Geographic


Cape Town - The new issue of National Geographic magazine chronicles Katie Stubblefield’s face transplant, and there is widespread talk around this.

This amazing feat is captured in a TV special that will go out on National Geographic (DStv 181) on 22 September at 21:00.

21-year-old Stubblefield became the youngest person to get a full face transplant after a she shot herself in the face with a rifle when she was 18 years old. 

The short film, Katie's New Face tells the incredible story of her face transplant. It's the journey of a devoted family confronting the agony of waiting for a donor, the pins and needles of a 31-hour surgery, and the prospect of a long road to recovery and irrevocably altered lives.
