Vampire Diaries is losing another leading lady

Cape Town - Bad news, Vampire Diaries fans! After saying goodbye last year to Nina Dobrev, who played lead star Elena for the first six seasons of the sci-fi series, fans will now have to wave bye-bye to Kat Graham, who’s played Bonnie the witch since season 1.

Kat made the announcement at the iHeartRadio awards over the weekend, confirming rumours that season 8 will be her last. "I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with. If the crew can come with me, then we’ll be good. The crew is going to be the hardest thing to let go because we’re a family!"

Fans in SA can breathe a sigh of relief, as season 7 is still airing in the US with season 8 only expected later this year…  so we still have two seasons of Bonnie to keep us entertained. Kat’s not yet sure how her character’s going to leave, but her exit could open up a huge new storyline. Remember, when Bonnie dies, Elena (who’s in a coma-like state) comes back to life! So does that mean Nina’s coming back? Hmmm, we hope so!

PS: Although The CW, the network that owns Vampire Diaries, has just renewed the show for season 8 to air in 2017, there are rumours that this will be the show’s last-ever season.
