Cape Town – The American series Walker, Texas Ranger might return to TV screens with a possible reboot currently in development with Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki set to appear in the starring role, reports Deadline.
A new version of the show that was broadcast in South Africa on e.tv and that has seen many repeats with Chuck Norris in the original version that ran for eight seasons.
Besides being an executive producer on the proposed reboot, Jared will also write the pilot episode.
A potential new Walker, Texas Ranger will follow the character of Cordell Walker, as "a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit."
The broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high-profile case – only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home” according to a descriptor for the proposed new show.
Like reboots of Hawaii Five-0, Magnum P.I. and MacGuyver all seen on M-Net (DStv 101), a possible new Walker, Texas Ranger produced by CBS Studios, will be a traditional new version closely following the original, with Walker once again working with a new partner who will happen to be one of the only women in Texas Rangers history.
