WATCH: Cynthia Erivo wants to make hits in the first teaser for 'Genius: Aretha'

Cape Town – It was quite a night for Cynthia Erivo.

After her performance at the Oscars of her award-nominated song, the first teaser for Genius: Aretha was released.

Cynthia plays the Queen of Soul in the third season of the National Geographic anthology series.

It will explore Aretha's musical genius and her career, as well as the immeasurable impact and lasting influence she has had on music and culture around the world.

The 30-second teaser is comprised of scenes in the studio, her personal life drama, and a young Aretha singing in her father's church.

The eight-part limited series will premiere on National Geographic in 2020 in 172 countries and in 43 languages.
