WATCH: Get to know Jodie Whittaker ahead of her Doctor Who debut

Cape Town – Jodie Whittaker has made headlines since it was announced that she will be taking over the role of Doctor Who in the upcoming season of the popular science fiction show. 

She is the first woman to take the title role as the 13th incarnation of the Doctor, a galaxy-hopping Time Lord who travels in the Tardis, a time machine shaped like an old-fashioned British police telephone booth.

Jodie made her first appearance in the Dr Who special Christmas episode.

Season 11 airs exclusively on Showmax, express from the UK, every Monday from 8 October 2018.
