During the most recent episode of The Late Late Show, the television host cleared the air and explained why he didn’t really drive on that occasion.

In the clip, posted to YouTube, he said: “I’m sure many of you have heard I’ve recently been the victim of a scandal in the media and there have been some very serious allegations made against me.

“I want to get ahead of everything and address those rumours and assure you, my audience, that these accusations are not true.

“I’m of course talking about the people saying that I don’t drive the car during Carpool Karaoke.

“Now I really hate that I’m about to say this right, but fake news.

“I know this looks bad, but I just want to say right now that I always drive the car unless we’re doing something where we think it might not be safe, like a dance routine or a costume change or if I’m drunk.

“But in the case of Justin Bieber, it was a safety issue where we thought it was best to tow the car. Frankly, I kept getting lost in his eyes.”

The host admitted that most of the time he’s “endangering the lives of the world’s biggest pop stars” and that he has only used a tow for a small number of celebs.

The Yummy singer took to Twitter to share his thoughts, pretending to be shocked, reports Metro.

“Wait . . . you weren’t driving the car?” Justin tweeted to his followers.

“How could you James? I’m shocked.”

Well, we guess the truth is out.
