Watch the first trailer for True Detective season 3

Cape Town – HBO has released the first teaser trailer for True Detective 3.

The upcoming season of the anthology series stars Academy-award winner, Mahershala Ali.

It will be set in the Ozarks where a disturbing crime occurs and a mystery that deepens over decades plays out in the three separate time periods.

Ali will play Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas who investigates the crime. 

Other cast members include: Ray Fisher (Justice League) will play Wayne’s son Freddy Burns, Carmen Ejogo (Selma) plays Amelia Reardon, an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to two missing children in 1980.

Stephen Dorff (Blade) plays Roland West, an Arkansas State Investigator whose career has been influenced by a baffling crime.

Scoot McNairy (Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice) plays Tom, a father who suffers a terrible loss that ties his fate to that of two state police detectives over 10 years.

And Mamie Gummer (The Good Wife) plays Lucy Purcell, a mother of two children who finds herself involved in a crime.
