You don't have to miss any Daily Show episodes - Trevor Noah is bringing them to you from his couch.

On Sunday Trevor announced that they cancelled filming of the American late-night talk show for the week in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The City of New York - where the show is filmed - has closed all restaurants, bars, cafes, nightclubs, movie theatres, small theatre houses and concert venues, and has banned gatherings of more than 50 people to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The BBC reports that New York has the highest number of confirmed cases in the US. According to the New York Times, 2 382 people have tested positive for the virus.

On Wednesday Trevor announced in a video on the show's YouTube channel that they have decided to make The Daily Show from home - and not just from his home but also the producers, the writers, the directors and the graphic producers.

"We just going to chill at home and use the technology we have to try and make a show. I know a lot of people have said, 'Hey, we still want to watch The Daily Show, we still want to be informed, we still want to catch up on the news without having to watch 24 hours of CNN', and I don't blame you for that.

"So that's what we're going to be doing."

He then highlighted the topics that would be discussed in the 17-minute episode: the coronavirus (obviously), the US border with Canada being shut down, NBA players being tested, and how people need to stop going to the ER to be tested because they are hurting people who need it.

"Let's get into that and more in our very first Daily Social Distancing Show, that's it, the Daily Social Distancing Show."
