Cape Town – It's the weekend, and February is finally here. Settle into the new month with these great new TV shows and movies.

From Jude Law's return as the pope, to Taylor Swift's much-anticipated documentary, to a wildlife series about indigenous trees in South Africa, and an award-winning local drama on the big screen, check out our weekend guide here:

Miss Americana – Netflix

Miss Americana is a raw and emotionally revealing look at Taylor Swift, one of the most iconic artists of our time, during a transformational period in her life. The film tells the story of Swift navigating the difference between who the world wants her to be, and who she wants to be. (Read our review here)

Next in Fashion – Netflix

This competition series features some of the world's best and quietly innovative designers who compete for a chance to become the next big name in fashion. The series is hosted by fashion designer and TV personality Tan France (Queer Eye) and designer and global style icon Alexa Chung.

The New Pope – Showmax

Available from Saturday, 1 February

Originally slated to be the second season of the award-winning series The Young Pope, The New Pope became a newly ordained nine-episode follow up. Jude Law reprises his role as Pope Pius XIII, whose comatose state leads to the search for a new pope. Enter acting legend John Malkovich as Pope John Paul III and let the pope wars begin.

A wildlife documentary steeped in wonder that follows five majestic trees found in a Southern Africa. Each one lives in a unique location and feeds and shelters an array of life.

Poppie Nongena – In cinemas

Poppie Nongena tells the moving story of an isiXhosa mother whose life revolves around finding stability for her family during a period of insufferable upheaval in the country, as African women are forced, by arrests, fines and forced removal, to leave their homes and resettle in remote areas designated as black homelands. Like a Boss – In cinemas

Best friends Mia and Mel are living their best lives running their own cosmetics company that they've built from the ground up. Unfortunately, they're in over their heads financially, and the prospect of a big buyout offer from a notorious titan of the cosmetics industry, Claire Luna, proves too tempting to pass up. This puts Mel and Mia's lifelong friendship in jeopardy. (Read our review here)
