Cape Town - Rosewood, one of the season’s most sizzling new shows, comes to Universal Channel (DStv Channel 117) this February.

Set against the backdrop of America’s hottest city, Rosewood follows a charismatic Miami pathologist, who performs “for hire” autopsies to uncover clues that others miss.

In the ten-part crime series, Morris Chestnut (Best Man Holiday, The Perfect Guy) plays the charming Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr., who finds himself teaming up with a new detective in town, Annalise Villa, to tackle some of Miami’s most perplexing crimes.

Despite his handsome looks and knack for solving crimes, Rosewood’s life is anything but easy – his ‘seize the moment’ outlook fuelled by years living with health issues that could kill him at any time. On top of that, he must deal with family drama. His overprotective mother, Donna, wants nothing more than to see him settle down. Meanwhile, his sister and assistant, Pippy, is romantically involved with his other assistant, TMI.

At the heart of this family-friendly series is the odd couple relationship between the eternally-optimistic Rosewood and the cynical Villa. Whether investigating a troubled young genius falsely accused of murder or a plot to kill Miami’s hottest designers, the pair strive to uncover the truth - but not without a healthy dose of competition and quick banter to keep each other on their toes.

In his first starring role, Morris Chestnut plays a character who dares to be hopeful in a TV landscape dominated by anti-heroes. He leads a cast of established and upcoming talent. Jaina Ortiz, in her debut television role, shines as Detective Villa. Comedian, Gabrielle Dennis, brings humour to the role of Pippy. Award-winning Lorraine Toussaint (Selma, Orange is The New Black) anchors the show in her performance as Donna.

AIRING DATE: 22 February at 20:50 on Universal Channel (DStv Channel 117).
