Cape Town – The second season of The Great South African Bake Off saw 12 new amateur bakers take to the tent.
In nine episodes their baking knowledge was put to the test; from biscuits, desserts, pastries to showstopping cakes – there was a whole lot of baking going on.
But just how many ingredients were used to create this great feat?
Here are some behind the baking facts and figures that will surprise you.
1) A whooping 220 dozen = 2 640 eggs were used.
2) 102 kg of flour was used.
3) 142 litres of milk was used.
4) 66kg of butter was used.
5) 7kg of salt was used.
6) 94kg of sugar was used.
7) 18.5kg of self-raising flour was used.
8) 65 litres of oil was used.
9) 2.4 litres of vanilla essence was used.
10) 73 kg of chocolate was used.
11) 9kg of cocoa powder was used.
