It’s that time of the week again. The time to get your weekly dose of female empowerment meets adrenaline as a new episode of Not A Diva reaches your TV screens. SA’s hot new show is brought to you by the female-focused insurance company 1st for Women who offer insurance specifically designed for women.
You heard me correctly. Female empowerment, adrenaline-drenched adventure all coated with a sprinkle of local and lekker flavour on top? Yes please.
What more could you want in the latest 1st for Women-backed SA show installment: Not A Diva.
Coming to you from the comfort of your couch on DSTV Mzansi Magic channel 161, the show aired its pilot on April 11th.
Looking to flip the switch on what a ‘diva’ can do, the show aims to promote Saffa’s strong and powerhouse female celebs.
Thembisa Mdoda will be hosting a special guest each episode and taking them on exciting outdoor adventures.
The follow up episode, airing on April 18th at 21:30, will feature 5fm’s DJ Fix Moeti and include knee-shaking stunts of abseiling and rapp jumping activities.
Rapp jumping incorporates similar elements to its sibling adventure activity - abseiling. The activity involves you literally running up or down the faces or buildings, mountains and cliffs while being secured with a rope and harness attached to your back. This makes it slightly different to abseiling, wherein you have your back facing the ground and kick off the surface of the wall or rocky mountain.
South Africa is no stranger to having a slew of heart-thumping and sweat-inducing adventure activities – from ziplining and bungee jumping. So, naturally there are plenty of facilities ready to host you on your next abseiling or rapp jumping expedition.
5 places you can experiences the thrill of abseiling and rapp jumping around Mzansi include:
Table Mountain, Cape Town – with Abseil Africa
Lanseria – with Ground Zero Adventures
Oribi Gorge – with Wild5Adventures
Antsey’s Buildings, Johannesburg – with Pure Rush
Kaaimans Gorge, Wilderness – with Fearless Adventures
