WHAT IT'S ABOUT:

Fresh from the success of their first series together, Top Gear’s new line up of presenters – Freddie Flintoff, Paddy McGuinness, and Chris Harris – get up to more mischief as they travel the globe in pursuit of hijinks and motoring mayhem. Expect to see bungee jumping in a car, an epic race between a fighter jet and the latest McLaren hypercar, a spectacular roadtrip through Peru plus top celebrity guests in the studio, and lots of laughs.

WHAT WE THOUGHT:

Drama, comedy, suspense and cinematic stunts worthy of a James Bond movie.

These are words I never thought I'd use to describe an episode of a motoring show. You see, I am not a petrolhead, but I do love to be entertained.

If the first episode of the 28th season of Top Gear is anything to go by fans of the show are in for a treat.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 27th season in which Chris Harris is joined by the newbies Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff.

The teething issues they had in the first series together has been ironed out, and each of them is more comfortable in the respective roles: Chris the grump, Paddy the cautious and Freddie the daredevil.

Together they work well as a team each focusing on their respective strengths that they bring to the show: Chris' extensive knowledge of cars, Paddy's ability to make you laugh out loud, and Freddie's daring spirit.

The first episode will appease both the petrolheads and those who just come for the entertainment.

The lads put 90s convertibles to the test during a 'summer holiday'. From being doused in a lubricant, to being hit by golf balls to being marooned at sea, I could not stop laughing during this road trip.

I don't want to give away too much, but Chris, in a dinosaur costume, will be an image hard to erase from your memory.

The climax of the episode is the much talked about bungee-jumping car insert. Freddie displays some serious nerves of steel when he goes off a massive Swiss dam in an Ariel Atom.

The Top Gear presenters hit the ground running with this first episode of the season. Settle into the passenger seat and buckle up, this is going to be another wild ride.
