Former professional tennis player Tegan Edwards from Johannesburg is now out of The Bachelor house.

In an interview with YOU, the 31-year-old spoke about her disappointment in having to leave the competition early. She also revealed that she’s still hopeful her special person is out there.

Q How did you feel when your name was not called out?

A You sort of get that sinking feeling in your stomach and it really sucked. But oh well, I’ll try again I guess.

Q: Do you still believe in love after this attempt?

A: Absolutely! I love the idea of love – I just love. So that belief definitely hasn’t sunk.

Q: Seeing that you didn’t get an opportunity to go on a date with Mark, did you get a feeling that you’d get eliminated?

A: To be honest, it didn’t cross my mind. I just thought that he’ll get to know me next week or I’ll get my chance. I really didn’t see myself going home. Until there were about three of four roses left – only then did it cross my mind.

Q: How difficult was it to get Marc’s attention?

A: Being among 21 beautiful women with big personalities, trying to get noticed, is quite difficult and clearly I didn’t make a good enough impression

Q: Would you enter again should there be a similar competition?

A: Absolutely. I love this type of thing. It takes you out of your comfort zone and you grow tremendously. You could either look at this as a positive or a negative and I like to look at it in a very positive light. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Q: What lessons in terms of relationships, would you say you learned from being on the show?

A: I think I learned to be adaptable. When you’re so used to being so stuck in your ways, being in a house filled with women, you learn to adapt to certain situations and I think that’s a really good lesson to take into relationships.

Q: What do you wish you could’ve done differently?

A: I’m not sure. I felt like I was myself, I didn’t want to be someone I’m not. But maybe I should’ve been a little more pushy and tried to get to spend time with him, but then again it was so difficult having so many other ladies who want to get to know him.

Q: What do you look for in a partner?

A: I’m looking for someone who’ll support me flaws and all vice versa, someone who’ll love the good things about me.

Q: Have you ever been in love?

A: No, I can’t say I’ve ever been in love. I’ve been infatuated maybe but never madly in love.

Q: Now that you’re out of the house, which contestant are you rooting for?

A: I’m not necessarily rooting for any contestant now that I’m out of the house. I’m kind of rooting for the idea of love. I really hope Marc finds love and we hope I’ll have a wedding to go to.

Tegan is currently training for a marathon and is in the process of starting a fitness clothing line.

The Bachelor SA season 2 airs Thursdays at 19:00 on M-Net (DStv 101).
