What's going on behind closed doors? We get to the bottom of the room drama in 'The Bachelor SA'

accreditation

On episode 2 of The Bachelor SA the women are settling into their new rooms at the mansion.

This season each woman was assigned to a room with a colour: purple, pink and red.

Purple Room: Bridget, Payal, Pasha, Greta, Qiniso, Parushka, Nolo, Daniella, Tamryn

Pink Room: Gillian, Amor, Xia, Silke, Jessica C, Tegan

Red Room: Jessica R, Rikki, Andeline, Marisia, Mulesa, Michaela, Stefanie

But the sleeping arrangements are causing some tension between Bridget and Greta, so much so that Bridget packed her bags and moved to the pink room.

Much ado about a room – but is it really that deep?

We decided to get to the bottom of the room drama and chatted to executive producer, Donald Clarke to find out more.

What was the thought process behind choosing different colours for the rooms?

We wanted the ladies' rooms to be bright, beautiful spaces where they could relax at the end of a long day. Our art department worked very hard in furnishing the spaces, and in the end, each space had its own colour palette.

Is it any different from last season?

At the beginning of the season, we had 20 ladies all staying at the mansion and sharing the three large bedroom spaces, so we used varied colours to distinguish the different rooms in the mansion. It's not any different from last season.

Were the women assigned to rooms or do they choose them?

The rooms are assigned, but the ladies were free to move around as they pleased. As the ladies left, the spaces were reworked to give more on-camera areas for the cocktail party, but it meant that three bedrooms needed to shrink down to two.

Do the colours signify anything – like who's going on a date – as the ladies speculated?

Not at all! The room colours are purely functional. Dates are all planned and chosen by Marc, who by the way, didn't know anything about the room setup until the drama unfolded.
