A weekend with the Minions

Johannesburg - The Juice was invited to the South African premier of the highly anticipated Minions movie. Here’s how it all went down...

All aboard the Minion Express!
Well, no, not actually. It’s just a bus.
But you see this bus is different. It’s not just any bus, it’s a bus that is carrying us away to the distant land of Minionopolis, otherwise known as Sun City.
For the entire weekend, the resort would be turned yellow to celebrate the arrival of the Minions and their much-anticipated movie.

In the whirlwind that was our journey there, excitement grew with every passing minute so that by the time we had arrived, it was at its peak.

The rest of the weekend was jam packed with high teas, breakfasts served in the treetops and lunches spent near the lake.

But none of these moments could compare to the moment we finally got to meet our friends, the Minions.

There was Bob and Stuart and Kevin… and have we told you about Bob? He’s sooo cute!

Luckily for us, the three Minions took a liking to us and never really left our side the whole weekend. They were there to congratulate us when we had to navigate a maze. They were there when we needed some advice at the golf course and they were always there when we wanted to just kick back and take a selfie!

Sadly, they weren’t there when we went on a safari at the Pilanesberg and almost got chased by Rhino! (Cause they're clever like that)

When the time came for them to show us the special movie they had made, we could hardly wait! After all, they had told us before of how they had travelled world to be here, making stops in the Stone Age, Ice Age, Egypt, America, Australia (or so they thought) and even at Buckingham Palace in the UK.

Anyway, their movie was incredible! They got up to so many goofy things: our favourite was when Stuart smashed his guitar! Or the time Kevin decided to go out into the big bad world to find the Minions a home and a master to serve.  We also laughed until we cried as they tried to beat the crazy villain, Scarlett Overkill.

All of their adventures made us want to stay with the Minions forever! But we sure are glad we had them, even if it was just for one amazing weekend!

The Minions movie is now open at cinemas across Mzansi. So, go grab your ticket NOW!
