Despite reports that the show raked in 3.2 million viewers when it was aired this past weekend, a biopic of Aaliyah has come under heavy criticism for depicting her in a way that many of her closest friends and fans, including Timbaland, felt was just wrong.
But the show's executive producer, talk show host Wendy Willliams, has hit back at the film's haters saying it depicted Aaliyah in a way that Aaliyah would have been proud of.
According to Associated Press, Williams gave an interview on Monday where she said “as a black woman I was proud to show that Aaliyah came from a two-parent family, which many of us don’t”.
She also defended the way the film dealt with Aaliyah's death saying "it was extremely tasteful not to show her going down in a fiery wreck. I think when you do a movie about people’s favorite, whoever that favorite is, people are always going to have some criticism. You really can’t win for losing kind of sort of,” she added.
We wonder what Timbaland has to say about that?
