All the deets on Chomee and Dr Malinga's new show!

Johannesburg - Chomee and Dr Malinga are having a dance competition, and they want YOU to join them!

Earlier this week, The Juice exclusively revealed that Chomee will be the host of a brand new dance show on e.tv (read more about it here).

Now new details have emerged about the show, including what exactly contestants will be doing on the show.

When does it start?

The show is called Turn Up and Dance and is set to premiere on e.tv from Tuesday, 8th of September at 6pm.

The judging panel

As predicted, Dr Malinga has been announced as the resident judge on the show.

“I’m very excited about being part of Turn Up and Dance. Being a resident judge is something that has been on my career list of things I wanted to do. South Africa will get to see that I have a sense of humour - bazohleka, bajabule,” Dr Malinga says of his new gig.

Chomee says fans can expect some "insane" dancers on the show.

“Dancing is something that is very close to my heart. The talent on the show is insane and the dancers are all so passionate. This show will give the contestants exposure and also boost their confidence levels,” Chomee says.

How to be a hotstepper

Turn Up and Dance will see 5 dancers compete each week for the chance to win the coveted title of South Africa’s Hotstepper, and a cash prize.

Once crowned the Hotstepper, the dancer gets a chance to defend the title for as long as they can hold on to it, week after week.

The five dancers battle it out in three elimination rounds, with in-studio audiences having the power to influence who gets eliminated from the dance floor, but the final decision is made by Chomee and Dr Malinga.

In the second round, the resident judge, Dr Malinga demonstrates a dance move which the remaining contestants must incorporate into their freestyle routine.
