Asanda Maku opens up about her acting debut

Johannesburg- TV personality Asanda Maku, who made her acting debut on etv's new sitcom, B&B, last month is loving every moment.

"I've always loved acting and wanted to try my hand at it, and landing a role on B&B is my first acting job. At first, I didn't think that I got the role, but was very excited when I found out that I got the part," she explained.

Asanda added that even though shooting the sitcom was hectic, it was definitely well worth it and she enjoyed every moment of it.

"I play the character of Beseni, who is perceived to be a gold digger. Playing her was a bit challenging for me because I'm definitely not a gold digger, so she's a contrast to who I am. But it's not all about the money for her, and does have a heart at the end of the day, who just wants the best out of life," she added.

While, presenting will always be Asanda's first love, she is definitely looking forward to expanding her acting career.

ON DEALING WITH FAME...

Even though Asanda may be new to the acting world, it's no secret that being in showbiz definitely comes with its own set on challenges.

Asanda believes that an actress, she plans to remain humble by remembering the journey she's had to travel to get to where she is today.

"I always try to stay true to the art instead of letting the fame get to my head. Nothing was handed to me and I always remember that, and I think it's important to stay humble," she explained.

When Asanda isn't on set or trying to conquer the world, her two-year-old daughter is the light of her life.

"My little girl is a handful, but I love it. She definitely keeps me on my toes and adds purpose to my life. She makes me feel like life is there to be lived."
