At home with Isidingo’s Skhumbuzo

Johannesburg - He’s on the brightest young talents on our TV screens but behind the camera, Isidingo’s Sisa Hewana is a doting dad and an aspiring future filmmaker.

Talking to The Juice, Sisa says he's accomplished a lot in his short acting career but no success on camera can measure up to the pride he has in being a dad.

"I’m a father of two, a boy and a girl," he says, glowing. "I do my best to find time for them. I mean, I'm not really a party-goer anymore. So, when I’m not working I try my very best to be there for my family. I learnt that there’s a difference between providing for your children and actually being there for them, and I want to BE there for them.

So are there any plans to add to the family, after all it is baby season in celebville?

"No, not anytime soon!" he laughs. "Honestly I'm quite content at the moment. Maybe when I'm older and it’s a little less hectic but not right now. I think we have the perfect balance as it is, one boy and one girl,” he adds.

Sisa says that he can already see parts of himself in his children and won’t be surprised if one of them actually takes up acting.

“My family is very academic and also very skilled when it comes to drama and I can already see that in my little ones. My little boy is such an academic while my little girl just loves the spotlight,” he says

His "other" passion

Besides his family, Sisa reveals he also has massive love for directing.

"I shoot my own stuff, meaningless things, but it’s something I've wanted to get into. Even from the very beginning on Isidingo, I would visit the box in my spare time and just see how everything is done," he reveals.

And Sisa says the bosses at Isidingo have been more than helpful, even allowing him to direct scenes on the show.

Who knows? Maybe one day Sisa will have his name up in lights as the director of a Hollywood blockbuster?

In the meantime, he'll just be kicking it back at home with his little ones.
