Benni McCarthy's advisor: "Benni's coping well"

Johannesburg - Benni McCarthy's advisor has spoken out about the former Bafana Bafana striker's robbery earlier this week.

Speaking to Power FM recently, Benni's advisor Percy Adams says Benni had just arrived in the country on Tuesday, from taking his daughter on a trip to Disney Land, when he was held up at gunpoint at a barber in Melrose, Johannesburg.

Such an ordeal would shake anyone, especially since the thugs targeted Benni, but it seems Benni found his strength in the ordeal by reflecting on his family.

"I kept on asking Benni if he is okay and he said he was okay but I know things like this only hit you the next day,” says Percy.

"At the time when the guy put the gun on his ear and up his face the only thing he could think about was his wife and children," he added.

Percy says Benni is coping well and staying positive, choosing instead to see the lessons behind the ordeal.

"Maybe by happening to him it highlights what normal ordinary people are going through in life everyday in South Africa,” he says.

Benni appeared on Supersport a few hours after the incident appearing calm and collected- kind of like when he used to breeze past defenders in his hayday.
