Bernard Parker's wife: 'Challenges make our love stronger'

Johannesburg - Wendy Parker has revealed to The Juice that being a soccer player's wife is not just glitz and glam.

The soccer star's wife has been named as one of the wags who are set to star in Mzansi Magic's reality show, Diski Divas.

Wendy told us that fans can expect to get a glimpse into her life behind the cameras.

"The message that I want to send to the youth is that there is more to being a footballer's wife than the glitzy lifestyle. Yes, it is a high-flying life, but it's also important to remain grounded and never forget your roots," she explained.

Wendy added that she's passionate about making a difference in her community and doing charity work, which viewers will get a chance to witness first hand.

"I'm also a full-time and very hands-on mom to my two boys, who are my everything," she said.

Wendy says that her children love the cameras and are super excited about the show. "It's all been very exciting, but I'm also nervous about the public will perceive me," she explained.

The soon-to-be reality star told us that the secret behind her and Bernard's marriage is the respect they have for their vows.  "We truly love each other and we've made vows before God, which is an amazing thing."

It's no secret that being in the public eye does have its downfalls. And, Wendy agrees.

But she wouldn't change anything about the storms their marriage has had to face. In fact, she says that those challenges have made their marriage stronger.

"Some of us are in newspapers, while others are on people's lips. If people want to talk, they're going to talk and there's not much you can do about it," she said.

As for all the rumours, negativity and false accusations that come with being in the limelight - "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade," Wendy laughs.

Catch Wendy and the four other wags on Diski Divas on 12 April on Mzansi Magic (161) at 6pm.
