Johannesburg - Maps Maponyane was having just another Tuesday night. Then he decided to tweet this; "I just read that the word 'Xhosa' is derived from the Khoisan language and means 'angry men'. It all makes sense. (sic)"
Shortly after that a storm erupted on social media.
In just an hour, over 40k tweets were directed at him, most attacking him and questioning what he actually does.
What does maps maponyane do besides wear glasses?

Maps quickly deleted the tweet and apologised for his message.
Deleted my tweet because it was stupid. It wasn't aimed at offending anyone. Apologies for what was clearly not thought through. I'm sorry.

And he said sorry (ish) again. (He pinned this old tweet to the top of his timeline again).
