Bonang on her relationship: "People have their problems"

Being in the spotlight comes comes with a huge responsibility. Every day, we read about celebs' ups and downs. SA's "it" girl, Bonang Matheba, has had her fair share of negative publicity. In 2012, she made headlines after that infamous fight with her boyfriend, DJ Euphonik. After news of the incident broke, many people took her side, with others encouraging her to break all ties with him.

But all relationships go through rough patches. It's how you deal with those tough times that determines where the relationship is going. She explained to True Love magazine: "You know, people have their problems. They break up and make up; they go for counselling. It's very hard when you decide not to talk about something and then other people make it their business to talk about it. I find that very unfair."

And what about tabloid stories? "I don't really get angry about it. People can do and say what they want. If they don't like my dress or the way I speak or behave, go ahead and say it -  it's your opinion. I think I'm at a place in my life where I understand the media monster I'm dealing with. I know how it works. I choose not to respond. By responding, you make it a bigger problem. You get misinterpreted. But I won't lie, it really does hurt and affect me. I don't mind criticism and suggestions, but it needs to come from a place of love -  if it's just malicious, I don't want to know," she told the mag.
