Cassper, K.O and Beatenberg lead the SAMA nominations

The South African Music Awards (SAMA) were announced this morning in Johannesburg with artists Cassper Nyovest, K.O and Beatenberg dominating yet another awards ceremony.

Cassper Nyovest was nominated in five categories (Best Rap Album, Best Collaboration, Best Album, Best Male Artist and Best Newcomer). While fellow rapper K.O also received 5 nominations (Best Rap Album, Best Collaboration, Best Album, Best Male Artist) but can only possibly win 4 after being nominated twice in the Best Collaboration category.

And if you thought this year's SAMA nominations were all about the Hip Hop artists, think again. Pop outfit, Beatenberg, continue their meteoric rise with 5 nods in the Best Pop Album, Best Collaboration, Best Album, Best Duo/Group and Best Newcomer categories. While The Soil scored 4  (Best Collaboration, Best Duo/Group, Best Album and Best RnB/Soul/Reggae Album).

Oh, and if you were wondering about AKA:  the rapper and Duncan each scored 3 major award nominations, with AKA being nominated in the Best Rap Album, Best Collaboration and Best Male Artist categories.
