Johannesburg - Coke Studio has officially kicked off! And we can't get enough!
The first episode of Coke's new music reality show, Coke Studio, had us glued to our seats.
Bongo Riot x Mathew Gold
In the first collaboration of the series, Gang of Instrumentals' Bongo Riot teamed up Mathew Gold for an inspirational afro-pop/reggae track.
It seemed no matter how hard the pair tried, they just couldn't find a connection. But just as we were about to call them to help them out, the pair finally found their zone and wrote a track about, well, zoning out.
What we loved most about the collab:
Seeing two artists, who would not normally work together, just gel. There's something special about seeing two artists going from not agreeing much on one day, to being unstoppable the next.
Where to get the track:
The track is called Zone Out and you can get it here.
Mi Casa x Cassper Nyovest
Two of the biggest, multi-award winning acts in SA at the moment, Cassper Nyovest and Mi Casa, finally took to the studio together - cue girl screams.
Cassper had never done a house track before, Mi Casa had never done hip-hop, but after some nervous negotiations the pair found that musical sweet spot where hits are made!
What we loved most about the collab:
Coke Studio made a lot of people's wildest dreams come true when they put two of our favourite artists on one track! And, who would have guessed we'd hear Mi Casa do a hip hop-infused track?
Where to get the track:
The track is called We Own The Night and you can get it here.
