Cassper blows his own horn in international interview

Johannesburg - It must be hard being Cassper: always having to talk about the beef with AKA, and having it often shade all the talk about your talent in interviews.

But our Cass knows how to shake it all off and promote #TeamCassper. And he did it again in an interview with DJ Edu on BBC radio recently.

Calling himself the "biggest thing that ever happened to SA hip hop," Cassper says he will not rest until he's achieved global domination with his music.

"I'm the biggest thing that ever happened to SA hip hop, when you look at the stats. But no one will ever say that in my industry. South Africa will never celebrate that because I don't have media friends or I'm not associated with anyone in the media," Cassper says.

Cassper says that he can no longer listen to the idols who inspired him, because he feels he's on a different level to them.

"It's funny because I can't even listen to Nelly anymore because of where I am, and Ja Rule has a lot of dope records, but I can't relate anymore," he says.

Instead, Cassper says artists like HHP have inspired him to take his hero's sound and add his own authentic flavour to it.

"I want people to compare themselves to me. People should be like 'You are the British version of Cassper Nyovest' instead of 'Cassper Nyovest is the South African version of Kanye.'"
