Johannesburg - DJ Sbu leads the nominations at this year's South African of The Year Awards.
The popular businessman and radio personality has had a busy year pushing his side hustles. From energy drinks and toilet paper to his own bread brand, Sbu is determined to create an empire. (read more about his side hustles HERE)
In fact, two of those projects have been so popular that they have been honoured with nominations at the South African of the Year Awards.
Sbu's controversial energy drink, MoFaya was nominated in the Campaign of the year category, while Sbu's Sibusisio Leope Education Foundation was nominated in the Spirit of Humanity category.
Unfortunately, Sbu himself didn't make the cut in the Trendsetting Celebrity of the Year category or the prestigious South African of the Year category.
Instead, the South African of the Year award will be contested by Bonang, Brian Molefe, Shakes Mashaba, Imitiaz Sooliman, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Professor Salim S Abdool Karim and Miss World, Roelene Strauss.
While AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Jonathan Boyton-Lee, Nandi Mngoma, Nomzamo Mbatha, Terry Pheto and The Soil will slug it out for the Trendsetting Celebrity of the Year award.
Let's just hope Sbu doesn't try convince the organisers to let him do the catering for the awards: MoFaya and bread for everyone!
