DJ Sbu hits out at 'opportunistic' rumours

DJ Sbu found himself trending over the weekend for all the wrong reasons.

Allegations emerged that the radio personality and entrepreneur apparently used Flabba's memorial as a place to market his energy drink to the mourners who attended.

There was also some claims on social media that he allegedly handed out energy drinks outside the funeral. This raised many eyebrows with some taking to the social media platform to express their disbelief.

DJ Sbu set the record straight and targeted his response to Sunday World who apparently wrote an article about it. "@SundayWorldZA to spread such distasteful lies about my presence at Flabbas memorial is uncalled for. These are the gentlemen I was with the whole time at the memorial to MOURN & nothing else," he wrote.

Adding, "It's sad what journalism has been turned into. If the journo who wrote that piece has whatever personal issues with me, its unfortunate that you would choose to take advantage of such a tragedy to assassinate my character. This is a tough & sad period for everyone in our industry not to mention close friends & family. To single me out as a heartless opportunist is both disappointing & unfair.#PoorJournalism#Disappointed #RiPFlabba."

Meanwhile, its being reported that DJ Sbu's Metro FM contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of April.

Glad that's cleared up!
