This is the weekend rock and techno fans around the world have been waiting for!
The Glastonbury music festival kicks off and for many South Africans the closest they'll ever get to seeing the famed festival is in our dreams. But two DJ's from South Africa will be living that dream.
Up and coming DJ's Thibo Tazz and DJ Fosta will perform at the Glastonbury dance village, now known as Silver Hayes , this Saturday afternoon.
Deep house DJ, Thibo Tazz, and DJ/producer DJ Fosta, were both chosen to represent South Africa at the festival through the Bridges for Music innovative , a non-profit organisation working with electronic music in developing countries.
Tazz’s mixture of deep house, soulful vocals and minimal tech has made him something of a force on the Cape Town DJ and music scene. While DJ Fosta has established a label, 021 records, for emerging house, kwaito and hip hop artists in Langa and the areas surroundings.
The Guardian UK and All Africa.com spoke to Fosta about the announcement and he told them he had never heard of the festival before being approached to play in it but he has since done his research and is looking forward to playing at the event and the opportunities it will provide.
"I'm honoured to have been given this opportunity to represent my country on such a big platform, and to showcase my talent to an international audience. I hope that this opens more doors for future SA talent. This will also assist us in empowering the youth." he told All Africa.com
Thibo Tazz and DJ Fosta will perform between 1pm-3pm at Glastonbury, fans can listen to them on the BBC's dedicated Glastonbury streaming service, http://www.bbc.co.uk/events/errnc8
