Day 3: Gerrie Nel on the attack in the Oscar Pistorius trial

Oscar Pistorius was in the line of fire today as state prosecutor, Gerrie Nel, was on the attack. Oscar was shown pictures of Reeva's bleeding head wounds in court. For a third day, emotions ran high as Oscar refused to look at the pictures, saying "I remember. My fingers touched her head. I don't have to look at the picture."

Highlights from today's proceedings:

ZOMBIE STOPPER

A controversial video that was shown on Sky News was shown in court. After debating whether new evidence could be submitted, Nel won the battle. In the video, you see Oscar at a shooting range taking aim at a watermelon. He is recorded as saying: "It's not as soft as brains but F*&%^$g it is a Zombie stopper." Gerrie then pounces: "You know the bullet had the same effect on the melon that it had on Reeva's head," and asks Oscar to look at a picture of Reeva and take responsibility.

THE PICTURE OF REEVA'S SHATTERED SCULL

Oscar refused to look at the picture, saying "I have taken responsibility but I won't look at the picture, I won't be tormented, I was there, I felt it." Prosecution confirm that June Steenkamp was warned in advance that a graphic picture would be shown.

OSCAR'S EVIDENCE QUESTIONED

Gerrie Nel questioned whether Oscar had reconstructed his evidence based on the information/media reports that were given. Oscar insists that his version has never changed. Gerrie went on to point out inconsistencies with his bail application and court version of events.
