Fuming Hlengiwe clears the air on Gospel Awards snub

Johannesburg - Gospel star, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, cleared the air on claims that she called the Gospel Awards' bosses to demand she be nominated.

It was reported this week that Hlengiwe was livid when her name was not mentioned on the list of nominees for the Crown Gospel Awards. In fact, she was so angry she apparently even called the organisers up and demanded an explanation!

And while Hlengiwe has not been nominated for the awards, she says her record company is to blame for the snub.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Hlengiwe says she was told her record company, Universal Music, had not registered her for the awards.

“I was looking forward to competing and I was hoping to win something. I know my fans were disappointed by this, but there was nothing I could do because of the company’s mistake,” she told the paper.

Unfortunately it's a little too late for Hlengiwe, but she has promised to still be at the awards this weekend.

Let's hope she doesn't pull a Kanye though...
