In case you missed it: Reeva's cousin gives emotional testimony

Reeva Steenkamp's cousin, Kim Martin, took the stand in court to bring "Reeva's voice" to the proceedings.

Kim gave an emotional testimony to the court describing the trauma and devastation caused to their family after the model's death. As the fourth day of proceedings commenced this morning, Kim continued describing the heartache that Reeva's parents and the entire family has felt endured since Reeva’s death.

An emotional Kim had the entire courtroom stunned with heart wrenching details of how the family handled the news that Reeva had been shot and killed by her boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius.

"I had to do this. I had to do this for Reeva. I owe it to her. Reeva needs a voice," she said.

A tearful Kim described to the court how she was scared of letting her aunt and uncle down, and how they gave her their blessing to be "Reeva's voice."

"What happened has ruined our family. It has devastated her parents and their health. They are broken," she said.

Kim went on to tell the packed court that the family didn't want revenge against Oscar but that they did want to see him go to prison.

Sentencing proceedings continue for the rest of the day at the North Gauteng High Court. Judge Thokozile Masipa was initially expected to hand down her sentence to Oscar today, but this seems unlikely. Judge Masipa has made it clear to the parties that she will not be available next week, which leaves the defence and prosecution with today to wrap up evidence and submissions to the court.
