Jack Parow: "Afrikaaners are killing themselves, but I'll save them"

The Afrikaans rapper, who has just returned from a successful European tour, told talk show First Name Basis that he felt like Afrikaans culture is strangling itself by trying to protect it from the rest of society.

"Sometimes you protect something (the Afrikaans language) so much that it almost dies. The problem is that they are trying to protect Afrikaans so much that they ostracize it from everything else. It becomes like this weird language that people think is strange", he explained .

"I’m like the devil for traditional Afrikaans people.  I just make music that is fun and not boring and shitty and crap like most of the other Afrikaans artists. Bands like me and Fokofpolisiekar try to take Afrikaans into the future and make it cool," he added.

Talking about the culture, Jack told the show that he had a "5 Step plan" to revitalise the dying language.  "People say that that Afrikaans is a dying language and I was like 'F*ck, if they say it's dying then I'll just take it and I'll make it alive and then it just belongs to me'. So, yah, Afrikaans belongs to me now!" " I'm gonna re make it cool , so we working on that, and we have a 5 step strategy. I've spoken to some ad agencies and we doing well so far!" he laughs.

Hellz yeah! Where do we sign up for this new Jack Parow Zef Afrikaans language?
