Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma on Monday found himself making the South African trends list on Twitter after publicly congratulating hip-hop star, Cassper Nyovest.
Cassper made history over the weekend after he was the first South African to fill the Ticketpro dome to capacity, selling 20 000 tickets to fans.
In a statement released by the presidency, Zuma applauded Cassper's historic feat. "We congratulate Cassper Nyovest for his tremendous success which has demonstrated the rich talent that exists within our country's music industry, especially amongst our youth."
But Twitter quickly exploded into a melting pot of criticism, many poking fun at the president's previous blunder during the ANC's National General Council in October. At the end of his speech, Zuma fumbled over the ANC membership numbers, struggling to read out the exact figures.
Now critics have poked fun at the president, asking if he knows just how many people can fill the dome...
"President Jacob Zuma joins the masses in congratulates Cassper Nyovest" can he please say how many people filled up the dome hahahaha

Cassper was quick to defend Zuma, hitting back at the media for not making a bigger deal about his achievement. The president recognized us before your local news paper. But when they make up their lies about us we are front page. MXM
