Jill Scott speaks out about racial violence in America

Jill Scott has opened up about the racial discriminations in America, calling for a reform in laws.

Jill was at a press conference for her SA One Night Only Tour on Friday when she was asked her thoughts on the recent racial unrest in America that has seen prolonged protests across the country.

Jill says that the fight was not about a white vs black issue, but rather about just and unjust. "We've been having problems with police for many years and I don't want to compartmentalise humans, but the laws are wrong and unfair. Especially when a person is minding their own business and a police officer stops them. There should be some mutual respect there," she says.

She feels that police often take out their personal frustration on victims and it's painful to see. She says she feels that Obama taking office may have brought up deep rooted hatred and racism within people that was hidden between smiles, but that all can be resolved with a change in law.
