Kwaito artist arrested for alleged drunk driving

Pretoria - A Kwaito artist who is part of record label Kalawa Jazmee has been arrested for drunken driving, Tshwane metro police said on Wednesday.

"We can confirm that we arrested a well-known musician last night to the early hours of this Wednesday morning," said Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

"He was allegedly driving around the CBD on Kgosi Mampuru Street, formerly known as Potgieter Street, and he was found driving down a one way street. When stopped by officers, on further observation it was discovered that he might be under the influence of liquor."

After the musician was tested, it was confirmed he had been driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was taken to the district surgeon where blood was taken and later booked at Pretoria central police station.

"He is expected to appear in court sometime next week. What we can confirm is that he was driving a white Mercedez Benz and part of Kalawa Jazmee," Mahamba said.
