Katlego Danke opens up about returning to TV and motherhood

Johannesburg - After a year away from the limelight Katlego Danke is back with a bang.

Katlego, along with Zizo Beda, Sisa Hewana and Lawrence Maleka have been named as the new Lotto and PowerBall show presenters.

The new mommy told The Juice that she's excited to be back and feels rejuvenated from the break, which was spent caring for the lil man in her life.

"It feels great to be productive again and to be sinking my teeth into a challenge," she said.

The former soap star told us that even though acting is her passion and will always be her first love, she's excited to be showing off her own personality as a presenter.

"Live television is very different to acting, there is no room for mistakes but it gives me the opportunity to bring my own personality to the show and engage with the viewers."

"MOTHERHOOD HAS BEEN AN EYE OPENING EXPERIENCE"

Katlego, who gave birth to her first child eight months ago, says that becoming a mom was a life-changing experience for her.

"Motherhood has definitely been an eye-opening experience for me. I definitely appreciate mothers so much more now than I did before I became a mother myself. I feel like I've also grown as a person and a woman," she said.

It's no secret that being a first-time mom is exciting, yet challenging and nerve-wrecking all at the same time.

Katlego says the best way to describe being a mom is that it is a "work in progress," that no amount of books can prepare you for.

"Before my son was born I thought that I was well read, but the truth is that no amount of books can prepare you for the journey," she explained.

Katlego joked that like all first-time moms, she's also rushed off in a flat panic to the emergency room for a common illness that could have been treated at home.

As for juggling a career and being a mom, Katlego says that the transition hasn't been as difficult as she thought because she has been preparing herself and her son.

Catch Katlego on the PowerBall show every Tuesday and Friday night at 9pm on e.tv.
