Kelly Khumalo: "I'm not emotionally ready to talk about Senzo"

A visibly shaken Kelly Khumalo braved the media at a listening session of her album 'Back To My Roots' earlier today.

Kelly struggled to hold back tears as she spoke to journalists about the inspiration behind her hit single, Asine and the rest of her songs on the album.

Even though Kelly broke down with emotion during the press conference, she gathered her strength, composed herself and answered questions with a brave, yet somber look on her face.  She also didn't shy away and managed to smile at the dozens of cameras flashing away.

However, the singer would not be drawn into speaking about the tragic shooting of her soccer star boyfriend, Senzo Meyiwa on 26 October.

"I know you are all here to listen to the gory details of the incident, but I'm not emotionally ready to talk about those details. I will talk about those details when I'm strong enough," she said.

Kelly explained that she didn't just want to be known for all the 'scandals' she's been through in her private life, but for the artist she is.

When asked  about getting back to work so soon after the tragic shooting, Kelly explained that she's always been a working woman and has a responsibility not just to her children but to her fans as well.

The singer told The Juice that all the negativity she's received from society after Senzo's death inspires her to get up each morning and prove the world wrong. "I don't dwell on negativity. I gain my strength through Christ. I believe in a higher power and I will not entertain negativity addressed by people who are going through their own issues in life and want to address it through me," she added.
