Kelly Khumalo: "It was such a beautiful day that turned horribly wrong"

A shattered Kelly Khumalo has recalled the moments before her soccer star boyfriend Senzo Meyiwa was killed.

In an emotional interview with Sunday Times, Kelly described how Senzo was so happy during the course of the day on 26 October before the shooting.

She told the paper how they had spent the day together with her sister Zandi, her boyfriend and Senzo's childhood friend, Tumelo Madlala.

"It was a beautiful day that turned into such a tragic and horrible day. We were happy in the morning," she said.

The singer remembered how Senzo and her had breakfast together, before they headed off to a performance she was booked for. She also remembered how the soccer star insisted on visiting the grandmother of a former Pirates player to give her money as they were in the area.

Kelly told the paper that they were in Vosloorus because her mother invited them to dinner. She also remembered how just 30minutes before the gunmen stormed into the house, Senzo was cheerily playing with Thingo before she was put to bed.
