Kelly Khumalo's album and book sales have skyrocketed after Senzo Meyiwa's death.
The Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain was shot and killed at Kelly's home in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg, two weeks ago.
Kelly released a new album titled Back to My Roots before Senzo's death and had already started promoting it. According to The Times, Kelly's book and album publishers have admitted that sales peaked after the tragedy.
Although Senzo's untimely death might have helped to push sales, Dharam Sewraj, Universal commercial director told the paper that the album was a hit from the start.
"There has been a spike in sales but it is not only based on Senzo's passing. The days of brands influencing sales are over. These days it's about talent and the music that an artist puts out. We are even looking at putting out advertising because the album is doing so well."
Universal has also confirmed to The Times that Kelly's album is doing well at music stores.
Jacana Media, who distributed Khumalo's book, The Kelly Khumalo Story which was written and published by Melinda Ferguson said they had experienced an increase in online sales. The book was released in 2012.
