Kgomotso Christopher: "Don't chase the fame"

Kgomotso Christopher's passion for the craft is definitely reaping her the rewards.

For those of you who don't know, Kgomotso plays the feisty, cunning and deceitful vixen, Katlego Sibeko on Isidingo.

She entered the industry just a few years ago but has already been nominated for a Royalty Soapie Award two years in a row. This year she's bagged one in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress.

"It's very, very exciting. Last year I was nominated in the 'supporting actress' category so this is a huge step for my career and I'm very honoured," Kgomotso told us.

Kgomotso added that even though she's nothing like Katlego, she can slip into her character quite easily. "Katlego's actually the opposite to me - she's brash, doesn't mince her words and doesn't have any sort of filter. I would never want to be anything like her," she explained.

It's no secret that the entertainment world can be quite harsh, filled with loads of drama where many celebrities find themselves making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Here's how Kgomotso has managed to keep a clean record: "Don't chase the fame but chase your art. Once you focus on nurturing your craft, it will keep you grounded and then its not just about the fame. Fame is incidental and comes with territory but it will not be your focus."

She also explained that she believes if 'celebrities' chase the fame its sure to get you lost in a cut-throat industry.

And, that's the reason you'll seldom find Kgomotso strutting her stuff at A-list parties or events. "I only attend events that are industry specific and actually don't have much of a social life-I  would much rather be spending the time with my children," she added.

So, if you're planning a career in acting we hope you're taking notes!
